Dr James Lai is a Consultant Anaesthetist with over 20 years of experience. He has completed advanced training in New Zealand, London, Sydney and the US. He works at private hospitals throughout Auckland and has a public appointment at Auckland City Hospital where he works in trauma, general and vascular surgery, neurosurgery and radiology. He has an academic appointment with the University of Auckland, teaching medical students and trainee doctors. He has special interests in ultrasound, echocardiography and regional anaesthesia.

Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (University of Auckland) – BHB MBChB
Fellowships of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (London) and Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists – FRCA and FANZCA
Specialist Registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
